Importance of Fashion Trends

Fashion trends come and go, but a good fashion sense stays with you forever. Different people have different tastes in fashion, and while you may not always agree with them, they own up to their fashion sense with confidence. This is what makes a big difference between a fashion sense and fashion trend. Fashion trends dictate that we wear whatever is in season otherwise we could be rudely stared at or whispered about in public, or worse, we can be cited as examples of what a fashion faux pas is. While to some extent we are compelled to follow the norms in fashion, it doesn’t necessarily follow that we lose our own sense of style in the process. Celebrities for instance, know that they are being judged by more than half the world’s population by what they wear on what occasion, and for this reason alone, they turn to famous designers to dress them up in the latest threads in fashion. However, you will also notice that most of them incorporate their own sense of style into these fashion trends, and they are quite successful at it, too.

The Latest Fashion Trends

Nevertheless, it gives you some sort of security and peace of mind even knowing that what you are wearing is within the agreeable style of fashion for a particular season. Perhaps there is something to be said about the false sense of security that t
his kind of approval provides. But on the other hand, it is actually not so much as seeking approval as the current trend really IS appealing to the public. After all, fashion trends are there not only to dictate to us what to wear but more so to show us different comfortable styles that we can choose from if we fancy wearing them. Fashion trends take a lot of factors into consideration such as the weather, season, comfort, and lifestyle. So in reality, fashion trends are there to help people decide which one suits them best and which ones they can go without.

Create Your Style

If you go with the latest trends and use your imagination or creativity to make it your own style, you might find that there’s more to your wardrobe than only one look. You can also incorporate your mood into what you’re going to wear. You can exude playfulness or show your sexy side on some occasions and then be a little conservative on other days. Remember that fashion trends are more of guidelines on what you can wear for whatever occasion. For instance, if you’re stumped for ideas on what to wear to a formal event thrown by your company or you don’t know what to wear to a luau, fashion trends can help you solve this mystery. You can even ask fashion gurus who write in fashion magazines about advices on proper attires for every occasion. After all, you wouldn’t want to be caught dead wearing flip-flops to your cousin’s wedding reception or jeans to a beach party, do you?

Seven for All Mankind

Seven for All Mankind was started in the fall of 2000. The company was started in Vernon, California, a location that has become a favorite spot for denim worldwide.

The founders of the business noticed a void in the contemporary denim market. Fashion denim had not been seen in the US for over 20 years. The brand enjoyed success instantly at retail. The focus of the product was on women's denim bottoms. The product has been successful because of the fit, finishes, fabrics, and att
ention to detail.

The customer is sexy and sophisticated. Our jeans have become part of her fashion wardrobe
.

Sales reached $13 million in the first full year, 2001 and kept growing exponentially. The product line continued to expand, encompassing non-denim bottoms and jackets. The brand was quickly in demand in the major cities around the world. Brand awareness was created through product placement and a strong celebrity following that continues to this day.

The men's line was launched October of 2002 and has enjoyed the same strong consumer acceptance as
women's.

Seven for All Mankind is now sold in over 35
countries with distributors in Western Europe, Canada, and Japan.

The AGE of Fashion

Every year major magazines like VOGUE and HARPER’s BAZAAR dedicate an
issue to age, celebrating women of all decades adorned in high style.
Euphemisms are born, like “30 is the new 20” and “40 is the new 30”
created by beauty editors to extend our everlasting youth. As my big
3-0 draws near, I have wondered exactly how my sense of style will
change as I move into the next age bracket. It’s not like I can’t still
rock my stilettos in the club (although I’ve noticed the length of time
I can bear them is getting shorter!) but it’s important to dress
appropriate for the age that you are. Here are a few pointers to keep
you, your mom, and grandma timeless in fashion.

20’s - Age of the Party Girl
Finding yourself and your style are virtually equivalent in your 20’s. You can
pretty much get away with anything whether it is fashionable or not.
College threads turn into club clothes and then into daywear for your
evolving career. This is your decade to rock the hot pink tights,
miniskirts, and garments with lycra and spandex.

30’s Age of the Professional
Being that you most likely will have discovered your career path by your
30’s, it is important to focus on your professional image. Whatever
your field, you want to maintain a polished, stylish, and youthful
look. Think Jennifer Garner in “13 Going on 30”.

40’s Age of the Mother
Most women who want children have them by or during their 40’s. These women
need not be caught in “mom jeans” or schlepping around in sweats
because their life is dedicated to the children. Mothers can still be
as fashionable as ever in contemporary clothing. Even chic maternity
clothes are now available by high-end designers. Be the best-dressed
mom on the playground.

50’s + Age of the Socialite
From charity fundraisers to bingo, the 50+ woman is out and about in
society. She is wearing clothes that are non-conforming to the body and
are comfortable but completely stylish. Generally women in their 50’s
don’t want to show too much skin. Wraps and shawls are perfect
accessories to keep these ladies ready for the ball!

Toronto Fashion Week

Toronto Fashion Week is not only about the fashion–ok, maybe it is. But the places to check out for what’s truly on trend in the city are at the multitude of events that take over in the evenings.

And opening night was nothing short of spectacular, as Holt Renfrew held its exclusive media cocktail amongst the shelves of designer handbags. Designers Evan Biddell, Kimberley Newport-Mimran and the Greta Constantine boys were among the Canadian and international fashion media, including MTV’s Jessi Cruickshank, who stopped by for a quick sip of champagne and a nosh before heading back to the tents for the Joe Fresh Style runway show.

Opening with Vancouver native, supermodel in the making, Coco Rocha, the 40-outfit strong collection was a feast of neutrals, with pops of colour thrown in, natch. After the show, Rocha, who was also the last model down the runway, held court with Joe Mimran, et al, inside the tents.

Then it was off to C LOUNGE for a whole ten minutes to hear the DJ stylings of Lindsay Lohan’s pal Samantha Ronson. Us fashionable ladies called it an early night, as there is definitely much more to come from Fall 2008 Fashion Week.

Wicked Whisper: Which member of red-hot band member was spotted causing a bit of a scene at JFS when they were told they couldn’t sit front row? Apparently second row wasn’t good enough as they quickly turned on their heels and left.

Fashion sense, do you have it or not?

If one could become fashionable simply by learning what is in fashion and following the guidelines given by the fashion gurus, then everyone would become a fashion icon. But as things stand some people are in fashion whereas others are not. What differentiates these two groups is fashion sense.

If fashion makers had their way the human race would be a flock of sheep. Wear pastels this autumn and leather this winter. Get rid of plunging necklines but stay tuned on rising midriffs. Everyone would be roaming around looking like peas from a pod. Thank god for the smart people, the people with fashion sense, who know how to retain their individuality while remaining within the current fashion trends. And it is not really difficult. Fashion diktats are numerous. One should have the knack of mix-and-matching to get the correct blend. If pastels are in by all means wear pastels but use accessories to differentiate yourself from the crowd.

Every individual is different and the buying population is particularly different from the models that display the various aspects of fashion, whether on the ramp or from billboards. Garments that look good on the flat skinny models would rarely look good on people who have curves in the right or wrong places. Another aspect of fashion sense is to tailor the fashion trends to ones individual characteristics. How to choose garments of the right colours and materials no doubt, but those that distract from one's thinness or bulkiness, ones shortness or tallness. The policy applies to homes as well Fashion sense can make small rooms look larger and can hide columns and beams that protrude from the walls.

Fashion sense is more than mere knowledge. It is an attitude that enables one to carry ones decisions with confidence and flair. If you have fashion sense then use it, if not then head for the nearest salon.

90's Fashion

The 90's is a mixture of a whole lot of different styles. Fashion, as it always does, comes and goes. Several decades become fashionable again, then sometimes it gets modified and sometimes it is banned from the fashion world as a monster, an illegitimate child of creativity.

The platform shoe has recently come back and shows up in many shoes from sandals to tennis shoes. The color scheme of the 90's is dramatic or pastel. The classic color is black, used for dramatic effects in fashion.

Men's fashion, as it has been doing since the twenties, hasn't changed much. The pant legs have become a little bit more loose and the vest has dropped into the limelight. Basically, men's fashion hasn't climbed that far, but it's far from old and outdated. It's serene, classic, dashing elegance has kept it timeless, respected and admired.

Bundchen, the former girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio and current partner of American football star Tom Brady, earned more than double the second highest paid model on the list, Germany's Heidi Klum.

Klum, 34, earned 14 million dollars through her modelling, media and fashion business interests.

Third on the list was British supermodel Kate Moss. Despite ending campaigns with several high-profile labels, the waif-like icon was able to net around 7.5 million thanks to the success of her fashion line.
Moss also continues to work for Donna Karan, Longchamp, Agent Provocateur, Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Rimmel
